How to Clear Transaction History on OPAY

Infact, you cannot delete, clear or archive your transaction history on the OPay App. Contacting OPay customer care service would also not help in deleting/clearing your OPay’s Transactions History unless you want to close your OPay Account completely.

However, closing down your OPay Account doesn’t guarantee that your transaction histories are cleared on OPay database. They may still keep your credit/debit records for future references.

Although, we’re in an era where privacy is paramount, and taking control of your digital financial footprint is essential. But you have to understand that there are some certain terms that are mandatory by country’s centre bank.

For instance, no bank in Nigeria is allowed to enable its customers to delete, clear or edit their transaction history. This directive has not been passed by the central bank of Nigeria (CBN).

OPay keeps a record of all your transactions for security and accountability purposes. These records include details such as transaction dates, amounts, and transaction types, making it impossible to delete your Transaction History on the OPay App.

Even though you cannot delete transaction history on OPAY, there are several steps you can take to manage your financial data and privacy effectively.

If maintaining privacy is a significant concern, and you do not require the services of OPAY, you can consider deleting your account. Note that this action will remove access to all OPAY services and may not immediately erase all transaction records due to regulatory compliance.

Here are steps to delete your OPAY Account:

  • Open the OPAY app and log in.
  • Go to the ‘Settings’ menu.
  • Select the ‘Account’ option and then ‘Delete Account.’
  • Follow the prompts to confirm account deletion. Contact customer support for assistance if necessary.

You can also delete your OPAY Account easily contacting OPay customer care service directly and request for account deletion.

In a nutshell, OPAY does not provide a built-in feature that allows users to delete their transaction history directly from the app. This is common across many financial platforms due to the regulatory requirements that mandate the retention of financial records for a specified period.
